Example Of A Hybrid Bike
The hybrid bicycle is a cross between a mountain bike and a road bike. Sometimes you'll hear them referred to as cross bikes. They have flat or upright handlebars which offer a more upright riding position. Wheels and tires are usually 700C or 27-inches, larger in diameter than a mountain bike. However, tires are narrower than a mountain bike, offering a smoother, more efficient ride on pavement.

Hybrid frames range from cro-moly to aluminum to carbon fiber. Most hybrids come with 21 gears, enough to tackle any road or trail. Shifting is accomplished by either a Gripshift or thumb shifters. Brakes are typically cantilever for maximum stopping power.

Hybrid bikes are an excellent choice for the casual rider. They are great for short distances on pavement or smooth trails or dirt roads. You can outfit a hybrid with a rear rack and bags and use it for shopping at the local farmer's market.

Walt's offers a large selection of hybrid bikes. We have the hybrid bike that's right for your cycling style.
