Brief
Description
| The Iron Horse trail is a 33-mile level trail located in the San Ramon valley, connecting two counties and 12 cities between Concord and Dublin. Most of the trail follows a former line of the Southern Pacific Railroad that was in operation between 1891 and 1977. The paved two-way trail provides a great place to ride with the family or with friends at any desired pace. The peaceful environment, beautiful scenery, numerous shopping centers along the route, and local parks create a pleasant experience along the trail. The trail connects other great trails in the region, such as the Contra Costa Canal trail and the Ygnacio Canal trail. Riders looking for off-road riding can take the Las Trampas-to-Mt. Diablo Regional trail and Briones-to-Mt. Diablo trail, which are both connected to the Iron Horse trail network. |
